PENELOPE FREEH
(Artistic Associate and Dancer, 16th season), Originally from Ohio, Penny relocated to the twin cities from New York City to join JSB. In 1998 she received a MN State Arts Board Fellowship and a McKnight Fellowship for Dancers. Her choreography has been commissioned by JSB, MN Orchestra, 3-Legged Race, Walker Art Center/Southern Theater’s Momentum, Weisman Art Museum and MN Ballet. She was twice presented by NYC’s Ballet Builders. She joined the dance department faculty at the U of M for the Fall ’09 semester. In June 2010 she will remount and perform her work We’ll Survive if We Don’t Protect Ourselves at the Southern Theater. Penny publishes her thoughts on dance at www.barefootpenny.blogspot.com.
